craftastic update... nesting?

Yesterday my mom told me I was "nesting". This could very well be true. My (and Joe's) to do list is so long these days and it is driving me crazy. All I want to do is check the items off and call it a day. Like I seriously have this crazy desire to cross the items off my list. Yes, this could definitely be nesting. It could also be the result of moving, the holidays, and a baby on the way that has created this never ending list of things to do, things to see, etc, etc, etc. I will say though that closing in on baby girl's delivery date, 4 weeks from tomorrow, has lit a fire in me.

35 weeks pregnant and feeling it. So. Very. Tired. All. The. Time. All I wanted to do during Carter's nap was crawl into his crib with him and nap - even when I'm not tired this sounds amazing. I love snuggling my dude. But I didn't. Instead I made a changing pad cover. Yeay! I think if I'd had more time I would have done two different fabrics to spice it up a bit.

see that pile of pictures in the background... that's on the to do list too

I also pumped out some button letter monograms for Carter and Mya. Lets hope her name stays Mya as these buttons are glued down in an M shape! For some reason I didn't take a picture of Carter's.

No matter what is on my to do list, or how pressing the timeline may be I ALWAYS have time for this.

Snuggling on the couch and reading books, chatting, or watching toons is one of Carter's favorite things lately. He loves to be close. Scratch that. He loves to be sitting on top of me with my arm around him. It is adorable. He will walk me over to the couch, sit me down, and then climb up on my lap to snuggle. Sometime we just sit there and chat and he is totally content. He's normally such an active guy so I make sure I really take advantage of these times. Lately we talk a lot about him becoming a big brother.

This truck is currently one of Carter's most favorite trucks. Sometimes he'll climb up on my lap, sit for a minute or two, then climb down, go find this truck, and climb back up to snuggle. Love him!

I also got out my real camera this past weekend. Although the pictures can't be posted yet as it will ruin a surprise.

Ok, I have to get off the computer and bust out the sewing machine and cross off another thing on the list: changing pad cover #2. Then off to bed!

fringie!

I finally finished my fringie! It was very time consuming. From cutting all the yarn - heck even getting the yarn untangled and cut to my specific size was tough! There has to be a trick to unraveling the yarn. The yarn that came in balls were super easy, but I got some that were in a big loop and man those were tricky.

Anyway I cut up 10 different colors of yarn and tied them on to a braided strip down the middle. I started tying on one at a time and then had a brilliant moment that I could tie on more than one at a time. Went a little faster then! And I bet if I wasn't 9 months pregnant it would have gone much faster too! Big bellies and sore hips hindered my progress some.

Anyway, here was my inspiration. I went online to buy one to find out they were 85 dollars!

Figured I could make my own for way cheaper! My pics should look better next time. Didn't realize my camera was set on florescent white balance. Oops.

My inspiration definitely has some more funky yarns but hey it's my first time! Plus I have no idea where you buy those funky yarns.

Fun baby day!

Yesterday was a fun filled baby day! To start with I started my DIY project - wooden letters that spell out Carter's name that we're going to hang above his crib. I went to Michael's to get the letters and pick out the paint. I probably stood in front of the paint area for an hour. I am AWFUL at picking paint. When we paint Joe picks the paint color because 90% of the time my colors turn out horrible. So picking 5 different colors was semi stressful!

(They only had 1 "R")

I got started painting and was pleasantly surprised with my paint choices. They actually matched the bedding and looked good!

Jen J was providing creative consult on this project and at first we didn't have each letter as a different color, but as the project progressed it looked better with each letter a different color. So then the decision was what color would the last "R" be? Orange. So I went out and picked out a 6th color! And picked up a mini "R" so I could see what it would look like.

Now I have to add the decorating touches to the letters. The plan is this:
C - plain green
A - teal with orange accents
R - plain yellow
T - brown with green dots
E - plain light blue
R - orange with teal accents

As I'm finishing up this project and discussing my next steps with Jen J the dogs start barking like crazy and the delivery man drops off some stuff. I look outside to see 3 huge boxes on my front porch.

Joe and I have a rule that if something comes for the both of us that we wait until we are both present to open the boxes. (This rule was put in place around our wedding when boxes would come and Joe would open them without me) So these three boxes are screaming at me to open them. I call Joe and tell him my situation and he gives the go ahead to open them.

Box 1 - stroller from my parents
Box 2 - pack n play from Joe's parents
Box 3 - baby play mat from Joe's parents

I then spent the next few hours opening everything and putting it all together. Joe got home from work just as I was finishing up.

Tucker really liked the smell of the pack n play and just had to roll around on the mat.

Joe was pretty impressed that I got everything put together before he got home. The pack n play was tough though. Putting the newborn sleeper together was a struggle but I got it! As soon as Joe came home he started pushing the stroller around the house and turned on the music for the pack n play.

Our second birthing class was last night so we didn't have much time to play as we had to head out the door. We did some relaxing techniques and stretches in class and then watched a video on birth. It showed a few live births. I could have done without seeing the live births. I don't think seeing them has helped me in anyway to feel more prepared or less anxious. The births didn't bother Joe as much but seeing the placenta really got to him. After they showed the placenta Joe went to the "bathroom". After class he told me that seeing the placenta freaked him out and he had to go walk around a bit! I will admit it wasn't the most pleasant looking thing - looked like a big blob of blood colored tissue. Joe then asks me "aren't you freaked out about the placenta?" Me "Um no, I'm not worried about the blob of mushy tissue coming out, I'm more worried about the baby with bones coming out!"
