Carter had his second month appointment today... which I was looking forward to and dreading all at the same time. I was curious how much he'd grown but not looking forward to the shots. He was a pretty chill baby for the most part, just laying there while she checked him out. Not sure if I've said this before but Carter sucks on his right hand a lot. So while we're at the doctor he's sucking away on his right hand, and then just his thumb! He's never done just his thumb before. Doctor was pretty impressed and said they are usually 4 months before they are sucking on their hands/thumbs. She said this was a good thing as it helps him self soothe and might help him get himself back to sleep as he can always find his hand to suck on, where as a pacifier falls out and needs to be put back in by momma or dad.
Our little baby horse is 13lb 3oz and 24 inches. (8lb 8oz, 21 inches at birth) Which is 85% for height, 82% for weight. Dr said he's definitely thriving! He is well on his way to doubling his birth weight by 4-6 months.
Other appointment notes, he'll start rice cereal after our 4 month appointment, he can go swimming in the pool while we're at home, no sunscreen, I need to stop having him nap in the swing asap, and we should try and move him to his own room after our trip back to MN, and our sleep regression was probably due to a growth spurt and she should start to see longer periods of sleep again (yeay for the momma and dad!)
We also switched formula in the past few days and he seems to really like the new stuff. He sucks it down! He doesn't do as much spitting the bottle out, grunting, eating, grunting, etc now. It's only been a few days but I'm optimistic this is the one we'll end up sticking with. Plus they make this formula in ready to feed bottles which will be great for our upcoming trips.
In other news Carter is now wearing 6 month sleepers! I already have an entire bin full of clothes that he's outgrown. And we are on the quest to find baby socks that don't fall off. And that's about it!
