Bug Baby

Carter is all about copying these days. It is pretty dang cute. His newest thing is scrunching his nose up and breathing in and out really loudly. I have to guess that he got this from me being sick? Sniffy and blowing my nose? Who knows. But he started doing it tonight and he is so animated about it. I didn't get the full effect on video but you can get the general idea.

The funny thing about being sick is that you get a lot of alone time. Basically from Thursday afternoon on I had alone time. aka sick in bed and sleeping. However any alone time is alone time these days. But the funny thing about alone time is the second you think you want it and you get it you want to go right back to together time. Last week I was practically begging for some Tara time. Not wife or mama time, just Tara time. I got it. Being sick in bed and alone made me crave my together time with my Bug and my little family. So while I am almost always in together time I much prefer it that way.

Last week I was afraid I'd lost who I was outside of being a wife and a mama. While this cold may have made me hazy and uncomfortable it did bring me some clarity as well. These days I may be more defined as a mama and a wife than as Tara but to hell with caring about what defines me. I define what it means to be a wife and a mama every day because it was who I was before being a wife and a mama that made me the kind wife/mama I am today. And they say colds only bring misery.

Anyway, I feel I need to give some updates! Lately it has been pictures and videos. And while those are priceless there are somethings pics/videos cannot show.

Carter. 11 months old and blowing us away each and every day. He is a super star snuggler and a huge lover. It isn't uncommon for him to be playing and look over at me, smile, and super crawl (crawl really fast) towards me to bury his head in my shoulder to give me a hug or to plant a nice big wet baby kiss on my lips. Kid carries his heart melting blow torch daily. Just the other day, before nap time, we were reading some books and he flipped over in my lap so he was facing me, smiled at me, then buried his head under my chin and into my chest and snuggled me. He just laid there and I sat there completely motionless as to not disturb that most perfect moment. A minute later he looked up at me, smiled again, turned his head to the other side and snuggled back in. Bliss. Pure bliss.

Carter LOVES to read books! Mr On-the-go will happily sit in my lap and read books.... sometimes for 15 minutes +. He loves to turn the pages. He has gotten so good at turning the pages that he'll even crawl over to a book and turn the pages himself. I swear with some of the books we read more often he knows when I'm done reading and to turn the page. It is crazy!

Teething sucks. Carter has 3 top teeth about to poke through. They are taking their sweet time though and driving the kid crazy. Hopefully they will make their appearance soon. I remember thinking how bizarre it was when he first got teeth. I wasn't ready for his gummy baby smile to have teeth. But I've gotten used to the two bottom teeth but I'm not sure I'm ready for 4 top teeth and 2 bottom teeth! He is growing up right before our eyes!

We got another one of Carter's first birthday presents. He loves loves loves to climb on things so we thought a kid size beanbag chair would be awesome for him. Turns out it isn't only great for climbing but fun for playing on/around too. Joe or I will hide behind it and Carter will climb up it and you'll see this little blonde head and blue eyes peeking over the top to try and see you. Pretty darn cute. In the video he is wearing his new jersey like t shirt. Which is why I call him my little football player.

We are literally counting down the months until we can move back to Gilbert. I cannot even begin to express my excitement! We will have choices of what we want to do each and every day! If we get bored at home we can go to the aquarium or the zoo. We can go swimming in the pool anytime we want. Or walk to the park to play. Carter and I are going to sign up for mommy and baby classes at the Little Gym. It is kinda like gymnastics and music classes combined. With lots of fun, soft stuff to crawl and climb on or play with. Super fun! Carter and I went to open gym at the gymnastics place in Flagstaff the other day. He loves all the stuff to crawl on and he especially loves crawling in between tight spaces! I totally need to build him a huge fort some day soon.

What's left of my cold is settling back in and begging me to climb back into bed.
