just can't get enough

just can't get enough Cartey Boo. Bug. Love of my life. Whatever you want to call him I cannot stop gushing over how funny, cute, handsome, goofy, talkative, etc he is.

This weekend had a mini milestone in it. I spent my first full day, 7:20am until 4:30pm, away from my main squeeze. I was supposed to leave at 7... but the thought of leaving him all day long was enough to make me a little coo coo in la cabeza. (crazy in the head) I couldn't stop smooching and hugging my little man. And just when I thought I was ready to leave I had to go back and pick him up, tell him how much I love him, and squeeze and kiss profusely... again! All the while Joe looked on trying to urge me out of the house so I could get down to Phoenix and get my stuff done and get back in a timely manner. It was in those 20 minutes that I fully realized how incredibly lucky I am to be a stay at home mom.

I made it to Phoenix and back without melting! It was 108 and HOT HOT HOT! I had forgotten what Phoenix summers were like. It made me wish for a nice pool and a floaty and some splish spashing with Carter, Joe and Kody... while Tucker lounged in his own puppy pool.

Anyway, Carter and Daddy made it through the day without me and I think Momma and Daddy both gained new perspectives that day. Momma realized how tiring it is to drive 5 hours and run around like a crazy person trying to get everything done in Phoenix so you can get home before 10pm - like Joe does a few times a month. Daddy realized that being a stay at home daddy isn't all twiddling thumbs and naps. My most favorite quote from that day was when I asked Joe how his day was going (while on my way back to Flagstaff) and he said "I brought all this work home thinking hey I can get this all done while Tara is in Phoenix and Carter naps.... but I haven't gotten any of it done" Then I got home to a husband who hadn't even found time to shower! I had to giggle when he was so relieved that I was home and he had the time to go take a shower :) Anyway it was good for both of us to get a glimpse of what the other does and made us appreciate what we have even more.

Sunday was a lazy day as it was also very hot in Flagstaff. 90, full sun, and no AC. We ventured out for an early walk and spent the rest of the day inside. Carter started out in a little romper from his Grandma and Grandpa, but then had a little diaper leak and spent the rest of the day as diaper baby. I can't say that Joe or I minded..... or that we didn't smooch his belly 500+ times this afternoon... guilty.

While I didn't melt in Phoenix, I melt a little bit each time I see Joe doing anything it takes to get a smile out of Carter. Even if that means says 'Oohhhhh, yeaaaaayaaaahhhh' in a really high pitched voice!
