eye update

last post for today!

Today I was walking with our neighbor and we were talking about Carter's eye surgery. She told her husband, who is a doctor, about it and he said he'd bring his kid to Phoenix to the pediatric ophthalmologist. This had me second guessing everything again. Our initial reaction was to go to Phoenix to the pediatric ophthalmologist. The thing that had us second guessing that was the fact that there is NOTHING in between Phoenix and Flagstaff. If something happened or Carter had a reaction to coming out of anesthesia there is literally nothing in between.

Hearing that her doctor husband would go to the ped eye surgeon had me racking my brain trying to figure out what was the best for Carter.

I called my cousin Geoff. He's a surgeon and he's family. I should have called him in the first place as his opinion and advice I trust completely. He was on a ski trip so we didn't get to talk much but his opinion was crystal clear. No matter what, 100%, bring Carter to the pediatric ophthalmologist.

So that's our new plan. I'm going to get a referral to a pediatric ophthalmologist and go from there. We're going to spend the night after the surgery in Phoenix just to be safe. In case something happens I want to be close to the doctor that performs the surgery and all of the resources a big city like Phoenix has.

We'll take as many prayers, positive vibes, or whatever your thing is, as we can get. I'm very much looking forward to Carter's eye getting better and him not having to deal with runny and gunky eyes - especially since it has been worse lately. But I am not looking forward to the surgery. I've had dreams about it. I use the word dream loosely there. They weren't the swimming dolphins and sunny sky kinds of dreams. So yeah, thoughts, prayers, good vibes, whatever you pray to or believe in, we'll take it!
